Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he will not meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin until there is an agreement to secure peace between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Reuters, Trump said he would not waste his time if there was no prospect of a deal. Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president's special envoy, expressed confidence that the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia are close to a diplomatic solution.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is reportedly accepting the proposal to freeze the current front lines, which would mean Russia would retain 78% of the Donbas region. Zelensky considers it a basis for negotiation, but estimates that Putin will not accept it.

Trump also mentioned that efforts to stabilize Gaza are progressing and that an international stabilization force will soon be deployed.
