Donald Trump claims that Azerbaijan and Armenia have committed in Washington to permanently end their territorial dispute. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed support for Trump's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The two countries pledge to end all conflict, open trade and diplomatic relations, and respect each other's territorial integrity. The Turkish Foreign Ministry welcomed the progress, while France spoke of decisive progress in relations between the two countries.

Aliyev proposed a joint letter with Pashinyan for Trump's Nobel Peace Prize nomination and thanked Trump for lifting restrictions on military cooperation with the US. The agreement provides for the creation of a corridor through Armenia connecting Azerbaijan with Nakhichevan, to be named the "Trump Route." The issue of Nagorno-Karabakh was barely mentioned.

Aliyev was elected for a fifth term with 90% of the vote, while Azerbaijan demands that Armenia reform its constitution. Pashinyan announced a referendum on constitutional reform in 2027.
