Donald Trump has expressed his gratitude to the Iranian government for canceling the planned executions of protesters. This decision follows his threats to Tehran of "serious consequences" if the crackdown continued.

"I greatly appreciate the fact that all of the anticipated hangings, which were scheduled to take place yesterday (over 800), were called off by the leaders of Iran. Thank you!" Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.

According to the NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR), at least 1,500 death row inmates were executed in Iran in 2025, the highest number in the last 35 years.

Donald Trump also responded to a journalist's question about whether officials from Arab countries and Israel had deterred him from carrying out strikes against Iran, saying: "No one convinced me. I convinced myself."
