Trump: Weapons for Iranian Protesters Ended Up with Kurds?
Share on:

Former US President Donald Trump claimed that the US sent weapons to anti-government protesters in Iran, but they ended up with the Kurds. This claim has been denied by Kurdish officials.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that the US tried to support the protesters in Iran, who were demonstrating against the rising cost of living. "We sent weapons to the protesters, many of them," he said, adding, "I think the Kurds got them."

However, Amjad Hossein Panahi, a member of the political bureau of the Komala Party of Kurdistan, denied Trump's claims. He stated that his party has not received any military or weapons assistance from the United States. "The weapons we possess have either been acquired in the last 47 years during the conflict with Iran or have been acquired through the black market," he said.

Furthermore, a senior official from Iraqi Kurdistan assured in late March that Washington is not equipping exiled groups of Iranian Kurds in the region.

Trump also referred to a possible agreement with Iran, saying there is a "good chance" of reaching an agreement, while threatening that without an agreement, "you will see bridges and power plants collapsing across the country."
