Trump Announces Three-Week Extension of Lebanon-Israel Ceasefire

Donald Trump announced a three-week extension of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel following talks at the White House. Hezbollah launched rockets into northern Israel, claiming violations of the agreement by the Israeli army.

In a post, Trump stated that the U.S. would work with Lebanon to help protect it from Hezbollah. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed optimism for a lasting peace.

Hezbollah stated that the rockets were in response to Israeli attacks on the town of Yater in southern Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had intercepted all rockets.

Trump is seeking a broader peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
