Donald Trump stated he 'thanked' the Iranian government for cancelling planned executions of protesters. The statement came after he threatened Tehran with 'serious consequences' if the crackdown on demonstrations continued.

'I greatly respect the fact that all scheduled hangings, which were to take place yesterday (more than 800), were cancelled by the leaders of Iran. Thank you!', the American president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

When asked whether Arab and Israeli officials had dissuaded him from carrying out strikes against Iran, Donald Trump replied: 'Nobody convinced me. I convinced myself.'

According to the NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR), at least 1,500 death row inmates were executed in Iran in 2025.
