U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine should pursue a peace agreement with Russia, following his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska. This change in stance marks a shift from the initial pursuit of a ceasefire.

Trump mentioned that he agreed with Putin to proceed with a comprehensive peace settlement, instead of a mere ceasefire. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated he will meet with Trump in Washington to discuss the next steps.

European allies expressed reservations, emphasizing the need for security guarantees for Ukraine and maintaining pressure on Russia. Some European leaders and commentators criticized Trump's change in stance, calling it a victory for Putin.

Trump implied that he discussed territorial exchanges and security guarantees for Ukraine with Putin. Putin, for his part, made no mention of a meeting with Zelenskyy.

Meanwhile, both Russia and Ukraine carried out air strikes, while Kyiv reported 139 clashes on the front lines.
