Trump Asks Herzog to Pardon Netanyahu

Donald Trump has asked Israeli President Isaac Herzog to consider pardoning Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing a corruption trial.
In a letter, Trump described Netanyahu's prosecution as "political and unjustified." Herzog's office responded that any request for pardon must be submitted through the official procedure.
Netanyahu was indicted in 2019 on three cases, including accepting gifts worth nearly 700,000 shekels from businessmen. His trial began in 2020, and he has pleaded not guilty.
Trump had also urged Herzog to pardon Netanyahu during a visit to Israel in October.
