Jamaica Ends Healthcare Cooperation Program with Cuba

Jamaica is ending its healthcare cooperation program with Cuba due to the failure to reach an agreement on its renewal. The decision comes amid increasing pressure from the United States on countries in the region to sever ties with Cuba.
The Jamaican Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Cuban healthcare professionals will continue to work for the remainder of the agreed period. Approximately 300 doctors and healthcare professionals from Cuba are working in Jamaica.
This move follows similar decisions by Guatemala and the Bahamas, which also terminated their healthcare cooperation with Cuba following pressure from the United States.
