Venezuela: RodrĂguez Pledges Free Elections and Amnesty

Venezuela's interim president, Delsy RodrĂguez, has pledged to hold free and fair elections in an interview with NBC News, a month after the arrest of Nicolás Maduro.
RodrĂguez emphasized that the electoral process would ensure justice and freedom, while the country must be freed from sanctions and international pressures. She also referred to a bill on general amnesty for political prisoners, the discussion of which began in parliament.
Thousands of people participated in the first major opposition demonstration after Maduro's arrest. RodrĂguez visited oil fields with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
The opposition had challenged the 2024 elections, alleging fraud.
