China and Russia Veto Resolution on Strait of Hormuz Navigation

China and Russia have vetoed a draft resolution submitted by Bahrain to the United Nations Security Council regarding the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The draft resolution authorized any country to use force to guarantee free navigation in the area. Pakistan and Colombia abstained, while Greece and other member states voted in favor.

The resolution called on Iran to immediately cease attacks against commercial vessels and attempts to obstruct navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as attacks against civilian infrastructure.
