The UK plans to transfer up to 300 children from Gaza to receive medical care. Each child will be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The UK Home Office will conduct biometric and security checks before travel.

This initiative runs parallel to Project Pure Hope, an organization aiming to bring sick and injured children from Gaza to the UK for treatment.

According to UNICEF, more than 50,000 children have been killed or injured in Gaza since October 2023.

UK Prime Minister Kir Starmer stated that the United Kingdom is 'urgently accelerating' efforts to transfer children from Gaza for treatment.

A government spokesperson stated that plans are underway to remove more children from Gaza who need urgent medical attention, bringing them to the UK for specialized treatment.
