UK to Deploy Warship to Cyprus for Base Protection

The UK is planning to send a warship, HMS Duncan, to Cyprus to defend RAF Akrotiri from potential Iranian attacks, according to reports in The Times and Reuters.
The matter was reportedly discussed during a meeting between Defence Secretary John Healey and senior military officials. It is noted that the UK currently lacks the capability to defend Cyprus from ballistic missile attacks.
Meanwhile, France is reportedly preparing to send air defense systems to Cyprus, including anti-missile and anti-drone systems. French Foreign Minister Catherine Barrot stated that France is ready to defend its partners if they request assistance.
