Brussels: Security of Supply in Defence Discussed

The first meeting of the Security of Supply in Defence Council took place in Brussels, where questions were posed to Member States to enhance security of supply in the defence sector.
Member states were asked to provide information on mapping security of supply and to submit recommendations to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market for defence products in the event of a supply crisis.
The meeting was co-chaired by the European Commission and the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The keynote speaker was European Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, while Stelios Kountouris delivered an opening statement.
Panagiotis Chatzipaulis and Herald Ruijters chaired and coordinated interventions to the Member States.
The meeting seals the efforts of the Ministry of Defence to deepen cooperation between Member States and EU institutions.
