Hegseth on Iran: We Will Finish the War

US Defense Secretary Pit Hegseth stated that the American strikes against Iran are not aimed at regime change, but acknowledged that the country's leadership has now changed.

In a press conference from the Pentagon, Hegseth stressed that Washington did not seek conflict with Iran, but declared: 'We did not start this war, but we will finish it,' arguing that the Iranian regime is waging war against the United States.

He accused Tehran of acting through the blood of our people, referring to attacks with car bombs, rockets, and improvised explosive devices. Hegseth described the American air operation against Iran as the deadliest, most complex, and most accurate in history.

Furthermore, he stated that there are no American military forces in Iran at this time, but did not rule out future actions. He argued that Iran was developing missiles and drones to create a shield for its nuclear blackmail ambitions.

Hegseth stressed that the US is setting the terms of this war and expressed hope that the Iranian people will take advantage of this opportunity, urging the Iranian security forces to choose wisely.

Referring to the war against Iran, the American Defense Secretary stated that it is not comparable to the war in Iraq and that the United States will not find itself in the same nation-building quagmire.
