Zelenskyy Accuses Russia of Violating Energy Infrastructure Ceasefire

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of exploiting the U.S.-backed ceasefire on attacks against Ukraine's energy infrastructure to stockpile munitions. According to Zelenskyy, Russia used these munitions to attack Ukraine with hundreds of drones and a record number of ballistic missiles.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was awaiting a reaction from the U.S. to the attack, as Washington had promoted a short-lived ceasefire on attacks against energy targets. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin had entered into an agreement that ended on Sunday.
The attack caused heating outages in Kyiv and other cities. Zelenskyy wrote on X that Russia used a record number of ballistic missiles in the attack on energy infrastructure. The Russian military exploited the U.S. proposal for a temporary cessation of attacks to stockpile missiles, according to Zelenskyy.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kulemba stated that 1,142 apartment buildings in Kyiv remained without heating, while in Kharkiv, 270,000 residents were in apartments without heating. Energy Minister Denis Shmyhal stated that a power plant in the eastern suburbs of Kyiv had also been severely damaged.
Moscow and Kyiv accuse each other of failing to reach a peace agreement, with the territorial issue remaining the main point of contention.
