Zelenskyy and European Leaders at White House with Trump

European leaders and the NATO Secretary-General will accompany Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and British Prime Minister Kir Starmer, announced they would travel to Washington.

Today, at 16:00 (Cyprus time), a teleconference of the leaders of the "Coalition of the Willing" is being held, with the participation of President Nikos Christodoulides.

The subject of the teleconference is information on the meeting between Trump and Putin on August 15, and an exchange of views on the next steps.

The Republic of Cyprus firmly supports Ukraine, respect for the Charter of the United Nations, the independence, and territorial integrity of all states.

On the war front, Russian forces shot down 300 Ukrainian drones and hit Sapsan missile storage sites, while heavy fighting is taking place in the Donetsk region.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that they had prevented a Ukrainian drone attack on the Smolensk nuclear power plant.
