Cyprus on heightened alert due to Middle East tensions, says Antoniou

The Republic of Cyprus is on heightened alert, not just on standby, according to Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou, who spoke on SKAI TV regarding developments in the Middle East and the crisis at the British Bases Akrotiri.
Mr. Antoniou stressed that the Cypriot authorities are fully prepared in terms of air defense, assuring that there are no war conditions prevailing in Cyprus.
Referring to the visit of the head of the United Kingdom's (MI6) Intelligence Service to Nicosia and the meeting with President Nikos Christodoulides, Mr. Antoniou noted that there was an exchange of views and information on the situation in the region.
Furthermore, he assured communication between President Christodoulides with the British Bases and British Prime Minister Chris Starmer.
