Archbishop Damianos of Sinai: Claims of Hostage Situation

Archbishop Damianos of Sinai has alleged that he feels "trapped, hostage, and imprisoned" at Saint Catherine's Monastery, stating his inability to obtain necessary medications. He is appealing for intervention from authorities.
According to sources close to him, food and medicine intended for the Archbishop were thrown to cats, and personal belongings are not allowed to be brought in.
The crisis began after the Archbishop's return to the Monastery, where he claims he was attacked by monks demanding his removal. The monks deny the accusations, claiming that the Archbishop was accompanied by "thugs" and that they did not assault him.
Hieromonk Michael reported hearing voices and seeing a group of people forcibly removing monks from their cells. The monks are now staying in a guesthouse of the Monastery.
