Netanyahu's Office Denies Assassination Rumors
Share on:

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied reports and social media posts claiming he was assassinated. These rumors circulated amid Iranian retaliation for attacks by the US and Israel.

An Anadolu correspondent contacted the Israeli Prime Minister's office for comment on reports circulating on social networks. "This is fake news. The Prime Minister is fine," Netanyahu's office responded.

The rumors started after a video from Netanyahu's March 13 virtual press conference, where some claimed Netanyahu's hand appeared distorted and that artificial intelligence was used to create an avatar of him.

Although there is no confirmation of these claims, their spread highlights the spread of misinformation on social networks.
