West Bank: Israeli Operation at Ramallah Exchange, Injuries Reported

An Israeli military operation took place at a currency exchange in Ramallah, West Bank. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, 27 Palestinians were injured.

The Israeli army announced it had seized “hundreds of thousands of shekels” intended for “terrorism” and arrested five people. The operation targeted an exchange that, according to the Israeli army, was transferring funds for Hamas.

During the operation, Israeli soldiers deployed in the center of Ramallah, near al-Manara Square. Eyewitnesses reported that young Palestinians began throwing stones at the soldiers.

Egypt condemned the operation, calling it an “aggressive and extremist policy of the Israeli government.”

Violence in the West Bank has escalated since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023.
