An explosion occurred at the Bandar Abbas port in Iran, with the fire department announcing that it was due to a gas leak. The incident resulted in at least one death and 14 injuries.

According to the head of the local fire department, Mohammad Amin Liaghat, the explosion was caused by the accumulation of leaking gas. Bandar Abbas hosts Iran's most important container port and is located in the Strait of Hormuz.

Israeli officials told Reuters that Israel was not involved in the explosions. The Pentagon has not commented.

In a separate incident, four people were killed by a gas explosion in the city of Ahvaz, near the border with Iraq.

Iran has been experiencing nationwide protests due to economic problems.
