The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip faces a critical juncture. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered immediate and intense airstrikes on the Palestinian enclave, accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire.

The decision was made during a meeting of the National Security Council. An Israeli military official claimed that Hamas attacked Israeli forces in an Israeli-controlled area of Gaza. Israeli media reported an exchange of fire near Rafah.

Airstrikes were carried out in Gaza City and in an area near a hospital. Palestinian sources report at least two deaths and four injuries.

Netanyahu also accused Hamas of delivering remains not related to the missing hostages. Hamas postponed the handover of the remains of an Israeli hostage after the order to attack, warning that any escalation would hinder the search.
