Gaza: Israel Intercepts Aid Ship

The Israeli army intercepted the ship Handala, operated by the pro-Palestinian solidarity movement "Freedom Flotilla," as it headed to the Gaza Strip with humanitarian aid.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that "unauthorized attempts to break the blockade are dangerous, illegal and undermine ongoing humanitarian efforts." The Israeli army had previously stated it would enforce the "legal blockade" of the Gaza Strip.
Activists broadcast images showing people sitting on the bridge singing "Bella Ciao" as Israeli soldiers took control of the ship.
