Gaza: First Aid Trucks Cross Border from Egypt

Trucks carrying humanitarian aid destined for the Gaza Strip crossed the Rafah border crossing today from Egypt. Their destination is the Palestinian enclave, where Israel announced a 'humanitarian pause' in some areas to allow aid delivery.

Images from the French Agency show large trucks loaded with white sacks crossing the entrance to the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side, leading to the southern Gaza Strip.

The trucks do not enter directly through the Palestinian side of the crossing, which has been damaged and closed due to the war. They travel a few more kilometers to the Israeli crossing of Kerem Shalom, where they will be inspected before entering the Rafah area.

Some trucks bore the logo of the Egyptian Red Crescent, and others the flags of the United Arab Emirates with the inscription: 'United Arab Emirates – Humanitarian aid to Gaza - Support projects for water supply in Gaza'.

The Al-Qahera News network reported that 'trucks with humanitarian aid from Egypt have arrived at the Kerem Shalom crossing point'.

Jordan also announced today that it has sent a convoy of 60 trucks carrying 962 tons of food and flour expected to enter the northern Gaza Strip from the Israeli crossing of Zikim.
