Gaza: 27-Day-Old Infant Dies from Severe Cold
A 27-day-old infant has died in Gaza due to the severe cold, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. The incident occurred in Khan Yunis, where displaced families are facing critical shortages of shelter and heating.
The infant, Aisha Ayes al-Agha, died at Nasser Hospital. According to the Ministry of Health, the number of children who have died from the cold in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of 2026 has now risen to eight.
Civil defense and ambulance services report that low temperatures are primarily affecting children, the elderly, and individuals with underlying health conditions. Displaced Palestinians are calling for the immediate provision of temporary shelters, building materials, and heating.
According to reports, the war has caused immense damage to civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, affecting 90% of it.
Palestinian officials emphasize that Israel is not fulfilling its obligations regarding the ceasefire, particularly concerning the opening of border crossings and the provision of humanitarian aid.
