IDF Announces Elimination of Basij Commander in Tehran

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have eliminated the commander of the Basij paramilitary organization in Tehran. The operation was carried out with a targeted strike by the Air Force, following guidance from military intelligence services.
According to the announcement, the target was Gholam Reza Soleimani, who had led the Basij for the past six years. The Basij forces are part of the armed forces of the Iranian regime and have been involved in suppressing protests.
Israel claims that the elimination of Soleimani adds to the “dozens of senior commanders” of the Iranian armed forces who have been killed during the operation, describing the event as a “significant blow” to the regime's command and control mechanisms. The Israeli Armed Forces state that they will continue to operate against commanders of the Iranian regime.
