Iran: Reports of Explosions in Tehran, Khamenei Out of City

An Iranian official told Reuters that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been moved from Tehran to a safe location. The statement comes amid reports of explosions in the Iranian capital.
AFP journalists reported hearing two strong explosions in Tehran, with plumes of smoke rising from the center and eastern districts. The Iranian agency FARS reported that the type of explosion suggests a missile attack.
Other Iranian media reported explosions in the eastern and western parts of Tehran, with Merabad Airport reportedly targeted. TASNIM agency reported that Iranian airspace has been closed. There were also reports of telecommunications and internet access problems in areas of Tehran.
