Iran: Esfahan Nuclear Facility Entrances Covered with Soil
Share on:

Iran appears to be taking precautionary measures at the Esfahan nuclear facility, covering the entrances with soil, according to satellite images. The Institute for Science and International Security, based in Washington, presented the images, indicating potential concern about airstrikes.

Satellite images show that two of the tunnel entrances at the Esfahan complex have been covered with soil, while the third shows additional defensive measures. The organization estimates that these movements indicate concern about a possible strike by the US or Israel.

According to the institute, covering the entrances with soil could help absorb the power of a potential airstrike and make access from the ground more difficult. Similar preparations had been observed before a US operation.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is traveling to Washington to discuss Iran's nuclear program with the US President.

Senior officials from Iran and the United States held talks in Oman, with Tehran leaving open the possibility of concessions on enriched uranium reserves.
