Israel Seeks to Seize Ships of Sumud Flotilla

Israel has submitted a request to the Haifa District Court to seize 50 ships that participated in the Sumud flotilla, which attempted to break the blockade of Gaza. Prosecutors claim that Hamas helped finance and coordinate the efforts, a claim denied by the Greek side.
According to the request, a significant number of the vessels belong to a front company of a terrorist organization, referring to the Palestinian Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA). The Prosecutor's Office claims that 16 of the vessels belong to Neptune Cyber, which is allegedly linked to Hamas.
Prosecutors argue that Israel has the right to seize the ships under international law, as they attempted to violate a naval blockade. Hundreds of activists, including Greeks, participated in the flotilla, which was intercepted by the Israeli Navy in early October. Activists allege human rights violations.
