Israel: Three Generals Dismissed over Hamas Attack

The Israeli army announced the dismissal of three generals who held key positions during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. Generals Aharon Haliva, Oded Basiuk, and Yaron Finkelman will be relieved of their duties.
According to the announcement, the three generals bear personal responsibility for the army's failure to anticipate and repel the attack. These measures were announced by the head of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, following a report by a committee of experts.
The report concluded that there was a "long-term systemic and organizational failure" within the military mechanism, as well as a "failure of perception" and a "failure of the Intelligence service."
In addition to the dismissals, the Israeli army announced disciplinary sanctions against General Tomer Bar and Rear Admiral David Saar Salma, as well as against four other generals and four senior officers.
