Israel: Tel Aviv Protests Demand Hostage Release Deal
Share on:

Hundreds of protesters blocked traffic in Tel Aviv, demanding an end to the war in Gaza and the release of hostages. The protest took place ahead of a security cabinet meeting.

At the northern entrance to the city, approximately 400 people stopped cars, waving Israeli flags and photos of the hostages. Similar gatherings occurred near the American embassy and outside ministers' residences.

Of the 251 people abducted on October 7, 2023, 49 are still held by Hamas, at least 27 of whom are dead, according to the Israeli army.

Haghit Chen, the father of a hostage, called on leaders to immediately negotiate a deal. According to local media, the cabinet is expected to discuss resuming negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

Last week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the start of negotiations, following a ceasefire proposal from Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. The proposal includes a gradual release of hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners.
