Israel has announced a limited reopening of the Rafah border crossing on the Gaza Strip's border with Egypt. The reopening will be exclusively for pedestrians and will be under full Israeli control, as part of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10.

According to a statement from the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel has accepted the "limited reopening" of the crossing within the framework of US President Donald Trump's "20-point plan."

The crossing will only be allowed for pedestrians, with an "Israeli full control mechanism" in place. The passage of vehicles or goods is not foreseen. Israel clarified that the crossing will open after the completion of the operation to locate the body of the last Hamas hostage, Ran Gvili.

The Rafah crossing is the only passage from the Gaza Strip to the outside world that is not directly controlled by Israel, and its operation is of key importance to the humanitarian situation.
