Israel Bombs Gaza City Overnight: Casualties and Ceasefire Talks

Israeli aircraft and armored vehicles bombarded the eastern areas of Gaza City overnight, resulting in at least 11 fatalities, according to eyewitnesses and medical officials.
Khalil al-Hayya, a leading figure in Hamas, is expected in Cairo for talks aimed at reviving the US-backed ceasefire plan.
The latest round of indirect negotiations in Qatar ended in deadlock in late July, with Israel and Hamas blaming each other for the lack of progress.
Eyewitnesses and medical personnel reported that Israeli aircraft and armored vehicles shelled the eastern districts of Gaza City, killing seven people in the Zeitoun neighborhood and four in an apartment building in the city center.
In the southern part of the enclave, five people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the city of Khan Yunis, and four in a camp in nearby Mawasi.
The Gaza Health Ministry announced that five more people, including two children, had died of starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll from the same causes to 227 since the start of the war.
A Palestinian official stated that Hamas is ready to return to the negotiating table, but differences between the two sides remain significant.
An Arab diplomat stated that mediators Egypt and Qatar have not given up efforts to revive negotiations.
