Israeli Fire Targets UN Peacekeepers in Lebanon

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that its peacekeepers were targeted by Israeli fire in the southern part of the country. No casualties were reported.
UNIFIL emphasized that it had informed Israel in advance about the deployment of its forces in the area, calling on the IDF to "cease any aggressive behavior against or near peacekeepers." Such attacks constitute "serious violations" of a resolution adopted by the UN Security Council in 2006.
The UN peacekeeping force believes that "in both cases, the fire came from a position of the Israeli armed forces (IDF) south of the Blue Line," which demarcates the border between Lebanon and Israel.
In recent months, UNIFIL has repeatedly reported Israeli fire against its peacekeepers. Despite the ceasefire, Israel launches almost daily strikes and conducts operations in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah positions.
