Israeli Soldier Vandalizes Arafat Memorial in West Bank

An Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier was disciplined after a video showed him vandalizing a memorial dedicated to the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in the northern West Bank, according to Times Of Israel.
The video, published yesterday, showed the soldier repeatedly striking the monument in the town of Zababdeh, near Jenin, with a sledgehammer.
In response to a related question, the IDF stated that the incident "is serious and inconsistent with established procedures."
The army reports that the relevant brigade commander "conducted an immediate investigation and the soldier received disciplinary action." Soldiers and commanders "were also subjected to clarification of procedures on the matter," the IDF added.
