The internationally renowned Iranian-British journalist Christiane Amanpour spoke about corruption in the Iranian leadership and her refusal to wear a hijab in an interview with President Raisi.

Amanpour, speaking on her show, referred to the Iranian revolution of 1979 that prompted her to pursue journalism. She also recalled incidents where she was banned from entering Iran and President Raisi's refusal to grant an interview unless she wore a hijab in New York.

The journalist stressed that there is enormous corruption and accumulation of wealth by the leadership of Iran, with the result that the people have run out of patience.

She also referred to the 2022 incident when she interrupted a scheduled interview with President Raisi in New York because she was asked to wear a headscarf, which she refused.

Amanpour was born in London to an Iranian father and a British mother and lived in Tehran until the age of 11. Covering the Iran-Iraq war was her first major assignment.
