Meloni: "If you want peace, prepare for war"

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during a speech in the Roman Senate, referred to the crisis in the Middle East and Europe's defense strategy.
Meloni stated that she agrees with the Roman principle "if you want peace, prepare for war," emphasizing that strengthening defense is not intended for attack, but to avoid armed conflicts.
Referring to the causes of the chaos, she rejected the view that it is due to Donald Trump, calling it simplistic.
Meloni argued that if Iran abandons its nuclear program for military purposes, a significant threat against Israel would disappear, paving the way for a ceasefire in Gaza and the promotion of the two-state solution.
Elly Schlein, secretary of the Democratic Party, responded to Meloni, saying that humanity has made progress in resolving disputes and that preparing for war is contrary to the needs and desires of Italy.
Meloni's statement comes amid rising tensions in the region and discussions about Europe's defense policy.
