Israeli far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir prayed at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, sparking strong reactions.

The move is considered unprecedented and provocative, testing the rules governing the operation of the holy site. According to existing agreements, Jews can visit Al-Aqsa, but are not allowed to pray there.

Ben Gvir led a group of Jewish worshippers in prayer on the Temple Mount, while his actions were condemned by the Palestinian Authority, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel's policy on the status quo on the Temple Mount remains unchanged.
