In the excerpt, Braslavski states that he is suffering from severe pain and weakness, while also stating that there is no food or water. 'I am on the verge of death and I am sure that all the other hostages are in the same condition as me,' he says.

Braslavski's mother stated that she had never seen her son in such a state, describing the disappointment and pain she saw in his eyes. His father, Ofir, said he is 'watching his son die before his eyes and can do nothing'.
