UN Says Famine No Longer Exists in Gaza, but Food Insecurity Remains

The United Nations has announced that while famine no longer exists in Gaza, a large portion of the population continues to face high levels of food insecurity.
According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), following the declaration of a ceasefire on October 10, 2025, there has been a notable improvement in food security and nutrition. However, the situation remains critical.
The entire Gaza Strip has been categorized as being in a state of emergency (IPC Phase 4) until mid-April 2026. No area has been categorized as being in a state of famine (IPC Phase 5).
Oxfam France has denounced that Israel allows very little aid to enter and continues to actively block the requests of dozens of humanitarian organizations.
According to IPC forecasts, approximately 1.6 million people will continue to face food insecurity at a crisis level or worse until April 2016.
