UN: Increased Violence in Gaza and Ceasefire Violations

The UN announced an increase in violence in the Gaza Strip, with a new record of ceasefire violations since it was implemented on October 10. According to the Secretary-General's spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, violent incidents increased by 46% in the week of April 12-18.
The Israeli army is reviewing the statements. Its units hold about half of the Gaza Strip, while Hamas controls the rest. Hamas demands an end to attacks and increased humanitarian aid.
At least 770 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire, according to the Hamas government's Ministry of Health. The war began on October 7, 2023, with a Hamas attack on Israel, killing over 1,200 people. The Israeli retaliation campaign has claimed the lives of at least 72,549 people in Gaza.
