Palestinian Businessman Considered for Gaza Governorship

Palestinian businessman Samir Hulileh is being considered as a potential governor of the post-war Gaza Strip, according to a report in the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
Hulileh, who lives in Ramallah, would operate under the auspices of the Arab League and is reportedly accepted by both Israel and the United States. The goal is to prepare for the transition to a new administration in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that one of the principles for ending the war is the establishment of a political government with a peaceful stance towards Israel, without the participation of Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.
Hulileh told the Palestinian radio station Ajyal that he is ready to take responsibility for Gaza, but only with the consent of the Palestinian Authority. The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that only the State of Palestine is authorized to administer the Gaza Strip.
