Patriarch Bartholomew: 'The scenes in Gaza are a disgrace to the human race'

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his abhorrence at the dramatic developments in Gaza during the consecration of the renovated church of the Skete of the Transfiguration of the Savior Christ in Halki, Princes' Islands.

'We are watching with abhorrence the scenes of civilians, innocent children dying of starvation, but also of prisoners digging their own graves. It is truly a disgrace to the human race, to all of humanity,' the Patriarch stated.

He also referred to the renovation of the small church and stressed the importance of transforming the world through love and offering.

The Patriarch thanked Archon Actuarius Dr. Stefanos Gialourakis and his wife, Mrs. Anna, for undertaking the cost of renovating the hermitage.
