Trump Grants Netanyahu Leeway on Gaza

Donald Trump has reportedly given Benjamin Netanyahu the green light for military action in Gaza, according to reports concerning a White House meeting. Tony Blair also participated in the meeting.
Trump reportedly demanded quick results, with initial predictions for the war to end within weeks, which were later tempered. American sources, including Axios and Haaretz, report that the U.S. desires the rapid dismantling of Hamas.
Ron Dermer, Netanyahu's advisor, assured Trump that Israel does not seek permanent occupation of Gaza and will hand it over to another entity besides Hamas. However, these assurances contradict public statements by the Israeli government.
Amos Harel of Haaretz argues that Netanyahu misled Trump regarding the timeline and feasibility of the operation, while the military warns of the difficulties. Humanitarian organizations express concerns about famine in Gaza.
Post-war plans for Gaza were discussed at the meeting, with the participation of Jared Kushner and Tony Blair, but without any Arab representation.
