A 26-year-old Azerbaijani national has been arrested in Crete on charges of espionage. According to authorities, the man had been in Greece since January.

The case is considered serious, with a possible connection to the Azerbaijani national arrested in Cyprus on the same charges, following information from Mossad. The arrested individual had arrived in Greece by plane, and authorities are investigating his movements.

Since June 18, he had been staying in a room in Souda, which he had booked for one month. He allegedly photographed the naval base, ships, and weapons systems.

Reportedly, the arrested man only left his room to buy essential supplies. Authorities state that he had taken over 5,000 photographs of the entrance and exit of the port of Souda from his room.

These photos were sent via special encryption software, and authorities are conducting an investigation to identify the recipient. Police are trying to find digital traces of the transmissions to uncover the suspect's activities.
