The Syrian army has intensified its attacks against Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo, calling on Kurdish fighters to surrender. The clashes, which began on Tuesday, have already claimed the lives of at least 21 people.

These hostilities are the most serious to have occurred in Aleppo between the Syrian army and the Kurds, who control areas in the northeast of the country and some neighborhoods of the city. Tens of thousands of civilians have been displaced, with the UN estimating their number at at least 30,000.

Despite the ceasefire declared yesterday, fighting continued, with the Syrian army announcing the resumption of bombings on "military positions" in Sheikh Maqsoud. The Syrian Ministry of Defense called on Kurdish fighters to surrender, warning of strict treatment in case of resistance.

The Kurds refused to surrender and stated that they would defend their neighborhoods. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported that the Syrian army launched an attack with heavy cover from tanks and artillery bombardments.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that a 10-year-old girl was killed by army fire.
