Syria: Ceasefire Agreement Between Kurds and Government

The leader of the Kurdish forces, Mazloum Abdi, has confirmed a ceasefire agreement with the Syrian government, following the advance of government troops into Kurdish-held areas. The agreement stipulates the withdrawal of Kurdish forces from Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa to Hasakah.
The decision was made to prevent the escalation of the conflict and its transformation into a civil war, as stated by Abdi on the Kurdish television network Ronahî. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), supported by the US, maintained a presence in the northern and eastern parts of Syria.
Mazloum Abdi is expected to meet with President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Damascus to discuss the details of the agreement. The meeting is considered crucial for relations between the Kurdish administration and the central government.
