The Syrian army has intensified its bombardment of Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo, calling on Kurdish fighters to surrender. The clashes have resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people and the displacement of tens of thousands.

The clashes began on Tuesday and are the most serious hostilities between Syrian forces and Kurds in the area. The UN estimates that approximately 30,000 families have been displaced due to the fighting.

Initially, the Syrian authorities declared a ceasefire and offered Kurdish fighters safe passage, but the Kurds refused to surrender and stated they would defend their areas. Subsequently, the Syrian army resumed bombardments.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense called on Kurdish fighters in the Sheikh Maqsoud area to surrender immediately, offering guarantees for their safety. Conversely, it threatened strict measures against any source of fire.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that the Syrian army launched an attack with heavy tank and artillery cover, but the Kurds continue to resist.

Syrian television accused the Kurds of using drones against areas of Aleppo. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a 10-year-old girl was killed by army fire.
