The Israeli army announced today that the remains of two hostages recovered from the Gaza Strip have been identified. They are Tamir Adar and Arie Zালmanovich.

Tamir Adar, 38, was killed during the Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023. Arie Zালmanovich, 85, was a farmer and one of the founders of the Nir Oz kibbutz. He had appeared in a video released by Hamas in 2023.

The repatriation of the remains reduced the number of captive bodies held in Gaza from 15 to 13. At the start of the ceasefire on October 10, the bodies of 28 dead hostages were being held in the Gaza Strip.

The Red Cross stated that it facilitated the transfer of 15 Palestinian bodies from Israel to Gaza, bringing the total number delivered to 165, as part of the ceasefire agreement.

According to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Israel returns the bodies of 15 Palestinians for every hostage body returned.
